Since 2003, HardRock Infrastructure Services has been taking on the kinds of projects others will not touch. What started with one man, one rig, and a pocketful of credit cards quickly evolved into one of the top providers of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) services in the United States.
[pdf] The first offshore mobile drilling platform was the Breton Rig 20, first operated in 1949. This rig had evolved from the inland drilling barges which were used to drill in marshes and protected waters in up to 10 feet of water. The Breton Rig 20 was 160 feet by 85 feet, and could work in 20 feet water depth.
[pdf] In hard rock mining and quarrying, this is achieved through a controlled process of drilling and blasting. A blast hole drill rig is a specialised piece of equipment that creates a series of holes in a specific pattern, depth, and diameter across a section of rock known as a “bench.”
